Jose Gonzales serves as superintendent at NBMC. His day-to-day responsibilities shift with every job site but generally include overseeing various aspects of each project, solving problems as they arise, and coordinating with subcontractors, architects, and company owners. He has worked at NBMC for 23 years, starting as a laborer before being promoted to lead man and then superintendent.
“When Ray Nabholz hired me, I was simply trying to raise a family and make a living,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said what he enjoys most about the job is being involved in the whole transition from dirt to building, along with the community members he meets along the way.
Originally from Punuare, Olancho, in Honduras, he has called Conway home since 2003, drawn to the area for the medical care available to his daughter at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He and his family spend time volunteering in the community, and offering free Bible courses. He also volunteers with a local design construction program that coordinates disaster relief efforts in Arkansas and globally.
