Have you ever thought coffee and cats were the perfect pair? Well, there’s a café coming downtown we think you might enjoy.
The idea for Gibson’s Cat Café came to Shelby and Drew Blacksmith while on a trip to Asia in 2019. Cat cafes have been a popular trend there, and Shelby thought it could work in Conway. The name of the café came from the Blacksmiths cate, Gibson, who they took in during a winter storm in 2021.
The 1,900-square-foot café at 808 Court St. will have a kitty lounge where patrons can take drinks — with lids — to hang out with adoptable cats from a Maumelle shelter.
It is set to open Sept. 24.
Gibson’s Café will offer traditional coffee drinks with punny names — Meeowchiato and Catuccino to name a few — with beans from Zeteo Coffee, as well as bakery items from Blue Barn Bakery.
The Blacksmiths want the café to be a place of solace and comfort, said Shelby. Whether that’s providing a place for a college student to rest, relax or study, a working professional with an office for the day or a pet and caffeine lover with a cool new place to hang out, Shelby said they want Gibson’s to be open to all.
