Tom Makara is the inventory control coordinator at Conway Corp, where he has worked for more than 15 years. In his role, he oversees the purchasing, receiving, and maintenance of all company products across departments. He also manages annual inventory counts and reconciliations, ensuring smooth operations throughout the organization.
He joined Conway Corp after taking a temporary warehouse position that grew into a full-time opportunity. Since then, he has held roles such as material handler and material coordinator, experiences that gave him knowledge that led him to his current position. He says the people he works with are the most rewarding aspect of his job.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Makara moved to Conway in 1989 due to his father’s job with Union Pacific Railroad. He says he has loved living in Conway, appreciating the small-town feel and the diversity of its people and culture.
Outside of work, Makara is active in community service. He has contributed to Bethlehem House drives, APPA Day of Giving, Conway Ministry supply efforts, and local walking trail and creek cleanups. He remains dedicated to supporting both Conway Corp and the community he calls home.
