James Fields is the owner of Fields Heating and Air, a company he has run since 2006. As owner, he takes care of the technicians who work for him, grows the company’s role in serving the community’s HVAC needs, and maintains ongoing training and education, all while ensuring the company hits the highest marks of service and reliability. He wears many hats in the business, serving as lead technician, job layout specialist, and installer, and said he does whatever it takes to get the job done.
Fields said what he enjoys most about the job is building relationships with customers, many of whom are repeat clients or extended family of people he’s serviced for years.
He came to Conway to attend the University of Central Arkansas, where he met his wife, Lisa. He studied sociology at UCA before transferring to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, where he earned an associate degree in applied sciences in HVAC, a turning point that put him on the path to his career.
Fields is a Mason and a member of Greenbrier Lodge 290 and Wooster Lodge 327. For the past 12 years, he has taught at the Arkansas Construction Education Foundation, and for the past five years, he has helped organize the SkillsUSA Challenge at both the collegiate and high school levels.
