Baptist Health Adds Provider to New Conway Family Clinic
Jovan Baker, M.D., is now seeing patients at Baptist Health Family Clinic-Salem Road, which recently opened in west Conway.
Baker received her medical education from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten. She later completed residency training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Baker is board-certified in family medicine. Her services include management of acute illness and chronic illness, immunizations, annual physicals, well-woman exams/Pap smears, sports physicals, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, ingrown toenail removal and earwax removal. Additionally, she specializes in hypertension and mental health.
Conway Corp Announces Promotion
Conway Corp recently announced the promotion of Brent Henderson to utility worker in the water department. He began his career with the company in 2019 as a utility worker apprentice.
Henderson also recently completed training and passed the exam necessary to earn his Class IV Water Distribution license from the Arkansas Department of Health, the top level of achievement for licensed water distribution operators in the state.
Conway Regional Health System Hires Providers
Conway Regional Health System has hired Beth Strack, A.P.R.N., as a nurse practitioner at its endocrinology and diabetes center. Strack received her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing from the University of Central Arkansas, and is a member of the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists.
Dylan Cruz, D.O., has joined the Conway Regional Medical Clinic on Prince Street as a family physician. Cruz joins Rhonda Dixon, A.P.R.N., and Meghan Mallett, A.P.R.N.
Cruz earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2020 at the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in Jonesboro. He completed his familiy medicine residency at Conway Regional Health System earlier this year.
Garcia Wealth Management Promotes Associate
Garcia Wealth Management-Northwestern Mutual recently promoted Reagan Mannis to practice manager. She previously served as an operations associate. She began at Garcia Wealth Management in July 2022.
Mannis is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Gilberto Garcia Named to Arkansas Business’ 20 in their 20s
Gilberto Garcia, co-founder and financial advisor at Garcia Wealth Management-Northwestern Mutual, was named to Arkansas Business’ 20 in Their Twenties class of 2023.
Garcia earned his bachelor’s in finance in 2016 from the University of Central Arkansas, and obtained an MBA from UCA in 2018. He is a Retirement Income Certified Professional, a University Associate Certified Insurance Counselor, and a Certified Long-Term Care financial advisor.
Mike Kemp Wins National Photography Award
The Arkansas Professional Photographers recently presented Mike Kemp with the Professional Photographers of America National Award at its annual convention.
In addition to the PPA National Award, Kemp was awarded the Degree of APPA Fellow of Photography. In order to receive the degree, Kemp completed 50 credits of work including print exhibition and achievement credits. He also received a Judge’s Choice Award for his photo entitled “Unbroken” and the Delores Shrader award for best black & white photograph in the APPA annual photographic competition.
Kemp spent 15 years as a photojournalist before turning his skills to focus on portrait and commercial photography. He opened Mike Kemp Photography in 2015.
University of Central Arkansas Announces Hires, Promotions in Advancement
The University of Central Arkansas Division of Advancement has announced several recent hires and promotions.
Joan Shofner was promoted to associate vice president for campaign and development effective May 1. Shofner has worked at UCA for 13 years and most recently served as associate vice president of campaign and legacy planning.
Greg Weber was promoted to assistant vice president of legacy planning effective May 1. Weber had previously served two years as the senior director of development for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Jennifer Boyett was hired as director of campaign communications. She began in the role May 1. Boyett previously worked at UCA from 2001-2013 and most recently served as executive director of the United Way of Central Arkansas.
Mollie Henager was promoted to senior director of foundation relations and development. She previously served for two years as director of development and foundation relations.
Jim Smith joined the advancement division in July as the senior director of development of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Smith’s fundraising career spans more than 20 years which includes previous leadership roles at the West Virginia University School of Medicine and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
